WALTER HERBERT TURNER |
July 27, 2021 |
Walter Herbert Turner of Lucknow died July 27, 2021, surrounded by his family, at Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton. He married the love of his life, Gwen, in 1965. She has been saving a place in Heaven for him since 2016. Walter was born Oct. 26, 1945, to Hugh and Evelyn Turner. He is survived by three children who will miss him dearly, Connie (Kevin Jefferson), Cathy (Dave Butler) and Walter (Melanie Turner); and five grandchildren, Holly, Kody, Cathaleen, Matthew, and Abigail; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Walter was known for a loud voice, amazing gardening skills, a non-stop helping hand that came from his big heart, and his love of cards. All of his siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends will miss playing euchre with him and his “Turner Special.” We will have to trademark his popular euchre phrase, “Alone Turner Special,” all while staring at his partner and saying, “If you have them all, I’ll get one. If I get euchred, say nothing.” Walter’s Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, as he requested. It was his direction to not have a funeral service. Memorial donations to Huron Shores Hospice at Tiverton Park Manor would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow; www.mackenzieandmccreath.com. |
