Margaret Elizabeth Reid (née Scott), formerly of Kincardine, died at the Starwood Nursing Home, Nepean, Ontario, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in her 105th year. Beloved wife of the late Eldred Reid.
Survived by her daughters, Irene Nesbitt and Hazel (Joe Murphy) Reid; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Margaret was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Kincardine Township, daughter of Thomas Scott and Esther Lindsay. Her known family were Samuel, Walter, William, Robert, Andrew and John Scott, Amelia McLeod-Cummings and Esther Collins. She married Eldred Reid, Nov. 28, 1934, and they lived on three different farms in Kincardine Township before moving to Tiverton in 1969. When she was 80 years old, she moved to Trillium Court Seniors’ Community in Kincardine. At the age of 90, she went to Ottawa to live with her daughter, Irene. For the past nine years, she has been in the nursing home. She was loved by staff and visitors over the years, and was active until the last three days of her life. During her active life, she loved her garden and the many crafts she did. Her interests included the Tiverton Agricultural Society, and the Women’s Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, and she was a 70-year member of the Eastern Star. A memorial service will be held at a later date, when permitted, at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine. Cremation has taken place. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery.
