Alex Marian Gomes of Tiverton, died peacefully at Tiverton Park Manor, Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at the age of 90. Cherished husband of the late Sonja (née Hamilton) Gomes. Loving father of Darryl (Anne Marie) Gomes of Tiverton, Michelle (Doug Cole) Gomes of London and Lisa (Bill) Kelly of London. Forever remembered by his six grandchildren. Dearly missed by his sister, Olive Marques of India; and sister-in-law, Philomena Gomes of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Maria (née Diniz) Gomes; and many siblings from around the world. Alex and his wife, Sonja, ran Alson Stationery, an office supply store and gift shop in downtown Kincardine, for more than 30 years. The funeral to honour Alex’s life will take place at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at 12 p.m., with Pastor Peter Stopford and Pastor David Baker officiating. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Gideons International Canada or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
