Raymond John Emerson, formerly of Ripley, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at the age of 93. Predeceased by Winnifred, his wife of 70 years; and his brother, Glen Herbert Emerson of Georgetown. Survived by his children, David, Brenda, and Garth; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild; as well as his brother, Goldie James Emerson of London; and sister, Hilda Pearl Emerson of Stratford. Raymond was a proud member of the Canadian military, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a gentle man who supported his family by encouraging them to follow their dreams. Throughout his life, he volunteered in his community, supporting youth and adults involved in sports. Raymond was also active in community organizations in Ottawa and later Sidney, British Columbia, including Kiwanis and the Royal Common Wealth Society. One of his favourite activities was walking, particularly later in life. The next time you go for a walk, think of a loved one and hold him/her close to your heart. The family expresses thanks to the staff at the Veterans Memorial Lodge, Broadmead Care in Victoria, B.C., who cared for Raymond in his final years. At Raymond’s request there will not be a funeral. If you would like to honour his gentle way of life, the family suggests making a donation to Broadmead Care - broadmeadcare.com/. |
