ELAINE MILLER

December 9, 2021

Elaine Miller of Kincardine, wonderful mother, teacher, grandma, and great-grandma, died Dec. 9, 2021. She was 69. Elaine moved through her life with a tenacity that shone brightly through her years – even as a young girl in Walkerton, where she was born to parents Eileen (Klages) and John Ellis, as a middle child of six: Tom (predeceased), Judy, Marg, Dave, and Greg. After ambitiously pursuing her education, she moved to Kincardine and became an elementary school teacher at the age of 18. She quickly earned a reputation for being both kind-hearted and strong-willed – always putting the education of her students first and inspiring hundreds of children throughout her tenure at Ripley, Elgin Market and Huron Heights Public School. Along with her husband Don, she proudly grew a family in Kincardine and is survived by Melanie, Kate (Matt McKenzie), and Alayna, and predeceased by Dan (Shelley) Miller. Her love grew exponentially as they welcomed grandchildren and great grandchildren into the family – Chloe (Matt Skinner), Liam, Anna, Jane, Macy, Tucker, Spencer, Easton, Max, Delilah, and Cali. Despite her time being cut short by cancer, Elaine pursued a life doing what she loved: teaching, travelling, reading, and gardening, surrounded by the people she loved– her friends and family. From catching a concert with her best friend, Mary, to jet-setting down south for the winter, to taking in the beautiful Lake Huron sunsets on the deck with Don, to making every holiday at home feel special, she created endless memories that were cherished by all in her presence. We will always remember Elaine at her best – with her toes in the sand and a book in her hand, surrounded by those she loved so dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huron Shores Hospice (www.huronshoreshospice.ca) or Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (www.thepmcf.ca), are appreciated.
