Melvin Charles Hart of Ripley and formerly of Point Clark and Walkerton, died Feb. 2, 2022, at Kincardine hospital at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Helen Hart (nee Arnold). Dear father of Douglas (Carolyn) of Kitchener, and Donald (Mary Lynn) of Southampton. Proud grandpa of Becky Hart of Kitchener, Vanessa Andrew (Eric) of Lucknow, Jason Hart (Kristina) of Thorndale, Jenna Andrew (Jeff) of Lucknow, Elaine Frook (Scott) of Elmwood and Laura Hayman (Craig) of Owen Sound. Cherished great-grandpa of Ivy, Foster, Camden, Owen, Maddison, Logan, Aydan, Iszabel, Gabe and Ella. Also survived by his sister, Agnes Lucarz of Saskatchewan. Predeceased by an infant grandson, Gregory Hart; and siblings, Morris, Lloyd, Les, Vera and Doreen. The Harts moved to Walkerton in 1963 where they started Hart's Grocery Store and raised their boys. In 1981, they expanded into Teeswater with another Hart's location that Don, their son, operated. When they retired, they moved to Point Clark and enjoyed spending time with friends and participating in the Point Clark Seniors Club. They spent their winters in Florida, soaking up the sun. When it came time to downsize, they moved into Ripley and eventually into RVilla Retirement Living. Helen and Mel could often be seen walking around the village and participating in the many activities RVilla offered. A private funeral will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, with interment at Memorial Gardens, Breslau. Donations to the Walkerton Legion, Ripley Legion or RVilla Residents Activity Fund, are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Condolences on-line at www.mackenzieandmccreath.com. |
