JOHN AMBROSE GAMBLE

September 8, 2016

John Ambrose Gamble of Kincardine, died at Trillium Court, Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at the age of 79. He was born Feb. 15, 1937 in Clinton, son of Marion (McDonald) and George Gamble. Dearly loved by wife Barbara, daughter Debra (John) McKay, sons Michael (partner Peter) and Paul (partner Brent), and grandson Aiden. Sadly missed by sister Jo (Bill) Landon, brothers Allan (Alice) Gamble and Wilfred (Dianne) Gamble, brothers-in-law David (Chris) Campbell, Jim (Jackie) Campbell and John (Joanie) Campbell and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant daughter Linda Marie, nephew Stephen Gamble, brother-in-law Lorne Cronin and sister-in-law Deborah Campbell. John was a quiet man who was very devoted to his family, church and community. He was one who wanted to organize a parade, be in the parade, even with his famous skunk, but did not want to simply watch a parade! John embraced life fully and with enjoyment. He was a successful farmer and trailer park owner and was a very active church member of St. Anthony of Padua and Knights of Columbus. In his home of Ripley, John belonged to Junior Farmers, Ripley Agricultural Society, Huron County Federation of Agriculture, Huron Township council from 1979-86, as well as reeve and Bruce County council for 16 years. John was a member of the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce to help promote tourism in the area. One of his favourite activities was curling and working at the curling rink. The family thanks Trillium Court staff, nurses and personal support workers for the care of John for the past three years, for the girls' effort in calling quickly and keeping John awake, and Dr. Gary Gurbin for his quick attention to John with the shingles. Like all families, we had our ups and downs. Thank you all. Visitation will be held from the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley, Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, from 2-5 p.m., with vigil prayers at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., from St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Kincardine. Interment Ripley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lewis Park or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
