DAPHNE LAWSON

Daphne Lawson of Kincardine, died April 24, 2022, at the age of 81. Adored and loving wife of the late Ron Lawson (1998). Beloved mother of the late Stephen Lawson (1998). Mother of Richard and his, wife Elaine; and grandmother of Cody. Cherished and forever missed by her sister, Barbara and her husband, John of England). Loving aunt of Ian and his wife, Isabel; James and his wife, Sylvie; Susan and her husband, Rick; Christopher and his wife, Debbie; and Mark and his wife. Kim. Devoted, immensely-loved aunt and great friend and travelling companion and daily phone calls to her niece, Kelly. The adventures shared between these two ladies in the last few years will hold a lifetime of memories. Daphne's end retirement plan was to live surrounded by the East Coast and Kelly. Daphne surrounded herself with beautiful friends over the past many years, but especially after Ron passed away 24 years ago; these friends have been her support system. Harlene Middelkamp, Linda McCullough and Marty Sears were her go-to girls, always there for Daphne. Every Saturday, there was a standing cribbage game among the Girls Club; the only way out of the game was a doctor's note, the club used to say. The past year Daphne loved, and was so proud of teaching, Jen McCullough how to play cribbage. Daphne spent many birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas, hunkering down in front of the wood stove at the home of John and Harlene where the cribbage got a little more competitive, and it was all about who skunked whom! Daphne and Marty spent hours together enjoying each other’s company at Ainsdale Golf Course. None of us will ever be able to watch an episode of “Coronation Street” without thinking of Daphne! Daphne was known and loved as Nana to Crystal, Nemo, Jack and Maria Morais, Shane, Sheona, Cara and William Middelkamp, Matt, Loraine, Danika and Otto Middelkamp, Jarred and Coral Middelkamp. She loved living in Kincardine. She loved, and was very proud of, what she and Ron created over the years. Daphne loved golf and spent years bowling. She enjoyed watching her bird feeders, reading under her Tulip Tree, and had a green thumb when it came to orchids. If anyone of us had a sick orchid, we simply brought it to her. Daphne was an exceptional knitter. Many of us have a sweater or outfit that we will love and cherish knowing she spent hours of love making them. She loved her dogs!! Hannah brought so much joy to her. She was blessed to have many great neighbours over the years, but she took great joy in watching the young families grow up in the neighbourhood and has many fond memories and stories of them. She was comforted greatly in the last week of her life, knowing that Hannah was being loved and taken care of by Brad, Julie, Kaitlyn, Claire and Lucas. Daphne, you will be missed by all who loved you. May your love and memories be with us today and in the months to come.
