Duncan McFadyen of Kincardine, died peacefully, May 2, 2022, in his 88th year, after a brief illness, at Juravinski Medical Centre in Hamilton. Predeceased by his wife, Ellen (Edmiston); his parents, Frank and Mary (Carlton); and sister, Florence (Hugh Fitzsimmons). Survived by his children, Scott (Nancy), Sue (Brian Samson), Eric (Julie) and Kate (Dave Wright); and grandchildren, Erica McFadyen (Ryan Jakob), Rob Samson (Rachel Craig), Ally Samson, Jeffrey McFadyen (Micki Wellhauser), Andrew McFadyen (Tawny Robinson), and Tegan Wright. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Jane Guest; and nephews and nieces who will miss his jokes and quick wit. Duncan started working for the Andrew Malcolm Furniture Company at the age of 16, and continued there until the factory closed. He worked at Home Hardware in Kincardine until he finally retired at age 75. His favourite thing to do was listen to the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band and he never missed a Saturday Night Parade at the corner of Queen and Lambton Streets in Kincardine. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service and interment will take place at the Kincardine Cemetery in the summer when the bagpipes play again.
