Obituary

STUART MOWRY

June 3, 2022

Stuart Mowry of Kincardine, former deputy reeve of the Town of Kincardine, died suddenly June 3, 2022, at the age of 81. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Freeman and Helen (née Chetley) Mowry. Beloved husband and soul mate of Donna (née Haley) Mowry for close to 56 years. Loving father of Daren (Mary) Mowry and Tanya Mowry (James) Stiver; and Grampie of Anna, Ari, Brock and Nolan. Also survived by his brothers-in-law, Floyd (Lorna), Larry (Teri), Steve (Anita), Eric (Christine) and Peter (Karla) Haley; and sister-in-law, Judy Haley. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews; his friends, Ken and Sandra Carroll, Brenda Haley, Sheila Elliott and Pat Capeling. Predeceased by his parents; his brother, Graham Mowry; his in-laws, Ralph and Alba Haley; and brother-in-law, Albert Haley. Stu was well-known throughout the community, from his teaching career at Kincardine District Secondary School (26 years), council work with the Town of Kincardine (20 years) or from his membership in PROBUS and the Kincardine United Church. He also taught high school in Milltown and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and Temiscaming, Quebec, where he was principal for one year. A lover of history and adventure, Stu had travelled the world. He had kissed the Blarney stone, seen Ayers Rock, snorkelled with Manta Rays in Hawaii, climbed a volcano, walked the Great Wall of China, and travelled extensively across Canada and the United States. He left this world fulfilled and with no regrets. Known for his cranky, hard outer shell and dry wit, friends and family know the true tender heart in his core. His strong presence in our family and community will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held to honour him, Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Kincardine Legion, from 2-4 p.m., with remembrances shared at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery. Donations in his honour may be made to: the Canadian Cancer Society, Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, Kincardine United Church, or a charity of your choice; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine; www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
