Jeanette Louise Olmstead (nee Parr) of Kincardine, died at Trillium Court Seniors’ Community, Kincardine, Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the age of 84. Cherished wife of Lorne Olmstead for 43 years. Missed by her sister, Susan Morgosh; niece, Angie Morgosh; and nephews, Craig Parr (Michelle) and Eric Parr. Fondly remembered by stepchildren, Lori Encil (Alex), John Olmstead (Maureen), and Lianne Olmstead Lawrence (Denis); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, Frederic and Lavella (nee Havens) Parr; and brother, Robert Parr (Marie). Jeanette was born in Lasalle, Ontario. When she was 18, she moved with her family to the Deep River area where her father opened a restaurant. She spent her career in secretarial/administrative work from McGill University to WUSC to AECL. Her quest for new life experiences found her living in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, even San Francisco and Wales. Jeanette had many and varied hobbies and was always eager to try new things. She was an accomplished potter and a member of Victoria Park Art Gallery. She had interests in photography, stained glass, rock collecting and polishing, genealogy, the clarinet, and a love of animals and travel. She was also one of the founders of the Kincardine Ladies Slo-Pitch ball group. The following is a message from one of Jeanette's granddaughters: "I will remember all of the ‘art’ I got to make with her as a much smaller person. I could relate to her creativity, and appreciate how she found magic in even the most ordinary things. I have no doubt that she will leave behind some of her magic in the form of all the natural things. Leaves turning red, sunsets, foxes in the yard." That describes how we will remember her in words better than we could write. She leaves a void in the lives of those left behind, but an appreciation and gratitude for the time we had her. We hope she's fresh and renewed and having the best new experience yet. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Final resting place, Deep River Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine; www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com. |
