Patricia (Pat) Ann Pawluk (née Marsden) of Kincardine died peacefully, with family by her side, Oct. 7, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 85. Loving and devoted mother of Ann (Bill), John (Katrin), and Chris (Michèle); and grandmother of Noah, Liam, Filip, Chloé, and Sina. Born in Northern Ireland, Pat met her husband William (Bill) while she was studying nursing in Birmingham, United Kingdom. After completing his schooling, Bill returned to Canada, but that initial spark had caught. Pat took up the adventure, emigrated to Canada and they were married soon after. Following brief spells in Sarnia, Ontario and Brandon, Manitoba, the couple settled in Kincardine, the community Pat has called home for more than 50 years. After Bill’s death in 1976, Pat remained in Kincardine, raising her three children on her own. Pat was a registered nurse and in later years, pursued a diploma in Mental Health Nursing. She went on to work at the psychiatric unit of the Grey-Bruce Regional Health Centre, as well as the Kin-Huron Medical Clinic in Kincardine. Always involved in the community, Pat devoted much of her time to Girl Guides, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, literacy programs at KDSS, and community pre-school nurseries. Whenever she found the time, Pat enjoyed travelling, gardening, and spending time with her friends playing mahjong, tennis and badminton. Nursing truly was Pat’s calling and she will be remembered by all as an extraordinarily kind and caring person who always had time for family, friends, and anyone who needed her. A special thank-you to the many friends and community members who provided care to Pat in recent years, including Kylie Pike, Kim Player, Suzanne Craven, Dr. Gary Gurbin, and all of the kind and caring staff at Trillium Court. She was fortunate to live in such a caring community. A funeral mass will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Kincardine, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at 11 a.m. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery, with a reception in the church hall from 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Parkinson Canada; arrangements entrusted to the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine; www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com. |
