Harvey Ernest Livingston of Lucknow, beloved husband of Pat Livingston (nee Tupling) for 54 years, died at the Wingham and District Hospital, Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 at the age of 77. Born in Brampton, Dec. 21, 1944, he was the son of the late Martha (Hutchinson) and Norman Livingston. Greatly missed by his son, Kirk (Danielle) Livingston of Lucknow; and grandchildren, Zane and Kloe. Also survived by his brothers-in-law, Dave Kuipers and Paul Kuipers (Lesley); sisters-in-law, Marion Lovett and Joan Livingston; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Predeceased by his siblings, Bill Livingston, Bernice Kemp (Gord), Cliff Livingston and Harold Livingston; mother- and father-in-law, Lillian and Khem Kuipers; and special family member, Dorothy Beamish. Harvey and Pat moved to Ashfield Township in 1969 where they farmed for 20 years and raised Kirk. After selling the farm, he was employed by South Line Haulage, South Line Petro Maintenance Ltd., Canadian Soil Remediation, CSR Services, Hazco Environmental Services and Tervita Corporation until his retirement in 2014. He was a dedicated employee and a valued co-worker. Never fully retiring, Harvey continued to work occasionally, and thoroughly enjoyed contributing his time and efforts to Rail Line Farms, Kurtis Smith Excavating and Goderich Sunset Golf Course. He played minor hockey in Brampton and was a member of the Brampton Junior B 7ups. Drag-racing was a weekend event as a young man. Taking up residence in the Lucknow area, he quickly became involved with the Lucknow Intermediates (Lancers), initially playing and then taking on a coaching role. Over the years, he played slo-pitch with the Port Albert Bulldogs and Lanesville Lords; hockey with the Goderich Oldtimers; and coached minor ball and minor hockey. Golfing became his favourite sport 37 years ago, and he was never happier than when on the greens with his son and grandson. Not one to be still, he took up lawn bowling in the summer as well and then curling in the winter. In addition to his family, Harvey had many other groups his life revolved around: his golfing buddies, and his lawn bowling and curling cohorts, and the coffee gang at Mary’s. They all held special places in his life. “Mr. Fixit,” as he was affectionately referred to by his wife in her weekly “Lucknow Sentinel” columns, will be missed by many. Visitation will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the chapel, Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at 11 a.m., with interment to follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
