Shirley Isabelle Burnham (née Barnard) of Kincardine, died at Trillium Court Seniors’ Community, Kincardine, Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Michael Burnham (2005). Loving mother of Dawn Carruthers of Goderich, Joe (Julie) Burnham of Peterborough, Ann Burnham of Kincardine, and Shannon Zettel of Kincardine. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Cole Carruthers, Ellen (Corey) Fletcher, Katie Rock, Emily Jo (Patrick) Cooper and Luke (Chris) Zettel; and great-grandchildren, Addison, Isabelle, Jordan, Steele and Hunter. Also survived by her brother, Donald Barnard of Toronto. Predeceased by her parents, Norman and Mabel (née Bartja) Barnard. Shirley was named Kincardine’s Citizen of the Year in March, 2009, for her extensive community involvement. She served on the boards of the Kincardine Area Seniors Advisory Action Committee (KASAAC), the Paddy Walker Heritage Society, and Russell Meadows Non-Profit Housing. She also started the Widows Beyond Bereavement Group after her husband died; was a volunteer at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre; and volunteered with a local service that completed income tax returns for low-income earners and seniors.
