Jean Margaret Irwin of Lucknow and formerly of Wingham, died peacefully at Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at the age of 92. Born in Dungannon, March 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth “Lyla” and Harvey Treleaven. Predeceased by her husbands, MacPherson Rutherford and Harvey Irwin; brothers, Allan (Bea) and Robert (Sharon) Treleaven; and brothers-in-law, Grant and Glenn Irwin. Her feistiness will always be remembered, her love cherished and her presence missed by her four sons and their wives, Rick and Irene of London, Glenn and Maryann of Washington, Ontario; Jamie and Marlene of Lucknow, and Kevin and Pam of Point Clark. Also survived, and missed, by nine grandchildren, Sarah, Ellie, Janet, T.J., Ben, JamieAnn, Walter, Braden and Laura; six great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Betty Treleaven. Jean was passionate about giving back. Her hands were never idle as she was always busy with knitting or quilting projects to be given, with love, to others. As a member of the Lucknow United Church Women (UCW) and Nimble Fingers, she was able to combine her love of needle work with her joy in helping others. Jean enjoyed many years as an RPN (Registered Practical Nurse), working in the nursery at the Wingham and District Hospital from 1966 until her retirement. Hands that tenderly held many precious newborns and lovingly created knitted treasures, are now at rest. Following Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service and interment will take place at Greenhill Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Lucknow United Church or the Wingham Salvation Army, are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.
