Kenneth Boyer McFarlan of Kincardine died peacefully, with family by his side, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Betty McFarlan (nee Elliott). Loving father of Andy and Steve (Jo) McFarlan. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, John (Tracy), Amanda (Adam), Anna (Chad), David (Valeria), and Scott; and great-grandson, Jones. Also survived by his sister, Shirley; and sister-in-law, Betty Elliott; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, John and Annabelle (Stanley) McFarlan; brother, Orland McFarlan; sisters, Muriel (George) Jeans, Audrey McFarlan, Eleanor (Bill) Gillam; and in-laws, Jack Beemer, Joseph Elliott, Edith (Donald) Simpson, Jim (Donna) Elliott, Bert (Marj) Elliott and Bill Elliott. Ken was born in Kinlough and raised in Kincardine. He started working on the Great Lake freighters and then as a local barber in Kincardine for many years. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and made many life-long friends through music. He and Betty welcomed family and friends to their home and cottage over the years to enjoy great music, food, fishing, ski-dooing, or a good game of cards. Special thanks to all those involved with Ken's care in his home, at Tiverton Park Manor, Kincardine hospital, and Huron Shores Hospice. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, from 12-1 p.m., followed by the service honouring Ken’s life at 1:30 p.m., with pastor Judy Zarubick officiating. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kincardine. Spring interment, Port Bruce Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Huron Shores Hospice or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as an expression of sympathy. |
