SHARON ANNE (BLAKE) WILKINS

February 13, 2023

Sharon Anne (Blake) Wilkins of Ashfield Township died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton. She was 62. Born April 21, 1960, in Ashfield Township, she was the daughter of Keith and Irene Blake. She went to North Ashfield Public School, then Brookside Public School, and F.E. Madill Secondary School, Wingham, and then worked at the Pizza Train in Clinton, the Benmiller Inn, and later at Point Farms Provincial Park. June 30, 1984, she married Jack Wilkins, and they had three children. She and Jack farmed together in Ashfield Township for almost 40 years, raising beef cattle and chinchillas, before focusing on the pig farm industry and building up their business, Wilkins Faith Family Farming. Ever creative, Sharon loved oil-painting, drawing and diamond art; working in her garden; and caring for her laying hens. She loved her family and enjoyed welcoming everyone for dinner, especially at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Even if you were just there for a quick visit, she always smiled and said, “Would you like a cup of coffee?” Sharon was a devoted member of Maitland River Community Church in Wingham and loved working with the children in Wee Care. Besides her husband, Jack, she is survived by her children, Timothy (Erin) Wilkins of Wingham, Matthew (Cassy) Wilkins of Ashfield Township, and Terri of Teeswater; as well as six grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin and Julia Wilkins, and Lucas, Haley and Clayton Wilkins. Lovingly remembered by her sisters, Jannet (Fred) Trewartha and Heather (Colin) Snyder; and brother, Larry Blake (Holly McDonald); as well as her in-laws, and many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. Predeceased by her parents, Keith and Irene Blake; and parents-in-law, Charlie and Mayme Wilkins. Thank you to everyone who cared for Sharon and supported the family throughout her illness. A special thanks to Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton for the exemplary care during her final days. Visitation will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Maitland River Community Church, Wingham, with Pastor Bart Eisen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment, Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Memorial donations to Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton, would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
