JOHN WILLIAM MILTENBURG

February 17, 2023

John William Miltenburg of Lucknow died at home on the farm that he loved, surrounded by his family, Feb. 17, 2023. He was 71. Survived by his beloved, wife Angela (Berberick). Loving father of Laura (Ben), Jake (deceased, 2002), Adam (Natalie), Eric (Jaclyn), and Jackie. Sadly missed by his 12 grandchildren, Alex, Felix, Martina, Lauren, Gabby, Ava, Jack, Anna-Marie, Owen, Brie, Tori, and Elsa. Caring brother of Tony, Adrian, Frank, Ben, Leo (deceased) and Mary Ann (deceased). Born Nov. 21, 1951, in Bunnick, Netherlands, he was the son of the late John and Tonni. His siblings were all both in the Netherlands; the family immigrated to Canada in 1967 and settled on a farm in Ashfield Township. In 1977, John married Angela and brought her home to his farm on the 12th Concession of Ashfield. Here, they welcomed their five children. The family raised pigs and crops, but he always had time for his children. He taught them the value of hard work, humility, and integrity. He loved the rural lifestyle and his time spent on the land and in the bush with his family. In 2002, his oldest son, Jake, was laid to rest. John deeply missed his "right hand man," especially during any repairs around the farm. John had many fond memories of Jake and loved to share them. In 2007, John welcomed his first grandchild and his world changed! He was an incredible grandpa, and his grandchildren will miss his ingenuity in developing creative, fun, and questionably dangerous inventions. The highlight of the summer was "cousin camp," when all the grandkids got to camp in the bush on the back of grandpa's farm. The family sends heartfelt thanks to those who cared for John throughout his illness. His final days were filled with laughter and many great memories. Visitation will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, at 11 a.m., with Marilynne Gilchrist officiating. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Kingsbridge. The family would appreciate donations to Care Partners of Huron Perth as expressions of sympathy. Donations and condolences on-line at www.mackenzieandmccreath.com.
