John David Hill of Kincardine, died peacefully at his home, Saturday, March 18, 2023, with his family by his side, in his 97th year. Cherished husband of the late Barbara Hill. Beloved father of James Hill (Lillian), Doug Hill (Karen), Donna Neyvatte (Mark), Marjorie Reid (Bob), Carol Gray (Rob), Ellen Guiler, and Ron Hill (Sandy). John will be greatly missed by his 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by his grandchildren, Jason and Kyle. A proud Second World War veteran, John served with the Canadian Navy. He was an avid car enthusiast and a fixture at car shows with his 1960 Studebaker. He was an active member in the community as a Legion member and former Canadian Tire dealer. John had a love/hate relationship with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but enjoyed the Toronto Blue Jays most days! His love of golfing took him all over Ontario and parts of the United States. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who volunteered for many years at the Kincardine Fish Hatchery. Watching his feathered friends and keeping the squirrels at bay was a daily ritual. His greatest joy in life was being a part of the lives of his children and grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with a Legion memorial service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral to honour John`s life, will be held at the funeral home, Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. Interment, Kincardine Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Lake Huron Fishing Club or Canadian Tire Jump Start program, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. |
