GLEN DUNLOP

May 4, 2023

The family of Glen Dunlop of Kincardine sadly announces the news of his peaceful passing, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the age of 93. Dad has left us to join Mom, who passed away just short of eight weeks ago. He was heartbroken after spending a lifetime of 73 years together and never recovered. Kevin (Fran), Dave (Donna), Doug (Karen), Mike (Janine) and Trudy (Paul) know he is where he wants to be and as devastated as we are, we are at peace knowing he is back together with Mom. We are so proud of him for all he endured this week, still having the strength to do it on his own terms to shelter us, always putting his family first. Dad was an amazing, hard-working husband and father, who spent many years and incredibly long hours as a well-respected truck driver, hauling long loads across Canada and throughout the United States. He always said he regrets having missed so much of our childhood but to us, he was our hero, providing for us and Mom for so many years. He always said his favourite journey was coming home. He loved his family, and visits from 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren were special, always ready with a treat and a tease. His quick wit, impeccable memory and stories from the past will be missed greatly. His stubbornness to always do things his own way was evident, including his final moments. Dad’s passion for the Blue Jays, the Maple Leafs, curling and horse races was always a topic for conversation. But just don’t bring up some of the trades the Jays have made in the past few years! A private family service will be held, with interment, Kincardine Cemetery. If desired, donations to Huron Shores Hospice would be appreciated. Thank you to Tiverton Park Manor for a short but thoughtful and pleasant experience. Once again, to Kincardine hospital staff and EMT, thank you just doesn’t seem enough. Your tender care for dad’s situation was appreciated by us all. You tried your best, Dad. Your will and strength to continue on after Mom, was something we all know you did for us. We knew you were struggling and ready to go. We will all aspire to have a love like you and mom did. You were probably greeted with, “What took you so long?” And to that you would answer, “Well, Beverley, they wouldn’t listen to me.” In all honesty, we weren’t quite ready. Take care of each other … like you always have.
