Irwin Allan Evans of Bruce Township, died peacefully, with family at his side, May 7, 2023, at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton, at the age of 76. Loving husband of Isobel (nee Reany) for 49 years. Beloved father of Tom, Jennie (Matt Schaefer) and Laura Evans. Dearly missed by his grand-puppies, Carl and Dante. Deeply missed by his sister, Beth Evans. Remembered by his in-laws, Bill and Marion Reany, Judy Hemming, Grace Reany, and Judy Reany, and their families. Predeceased by his parents, Marjorie (nee McKnight) and Allan Evans; and brothers-in-law, Bob and Dennis Reany. Irwin grew up on the 2nd of Bruce Township and although he spent a few years working at the Royal Bank, he was destined to be a caretaker of the land. He was an innovative thinker, open to new ideas and trying new things. As he grew crops and raised hogs, he taught himself the skills to repair, build, weld and fix just about anything. The farmhouse was renovated, a swing-set built and a treehouse built. He put together business plans, crop-test plots and best-breeding practices, all while learning to fly, singing in the Glammis choir, supporting his church and raising his family. Irwin lived a life of family, faith and community, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. To Dr. Jason Murray, Dr. Damian Gunaratne, and Dr. Smith (LHSC), the staff and volunteers at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton Park Manor, and to home care staff Leigh Rae, Hannah, Maddie and Julia, thank you; your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral will be held Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating. Reception to follow in the lounge. If so desired, memorial donations in Irwin’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Huron Shores Hospice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
