GWYNETH IONA FARRELL (nee COLLINS)

Gwyneth Iona Farrell (nee Collins) died peacefully, surrounded by family, May 11, 2023, at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton, in her 90th year. Survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert E. Farrell, whom she married July 28, 1956, at Chalmers Church. Also survived by her three children, Ina and her husband, Gary McLeod; Leanne; and Geo?rey and his wife, Sandra. Gwyneth cherished her grandchildren, Kristen McLeod; Jason McLeod and his partner, Kathryn; Deanna Caddey and her husband. Shawn; Kimberley Lawlor and her husband, Anthony; Alyson Dawson and her husband, Daniel; Thomas Farrell and his wife, Becca; Jonathon Farrell and his wife, Siobhan; Jacob Farrell and his partner, Lindsay; and Patrick Farrell. Loving great-grandmother of Autumn and Genevieve Caddey, Edison, Arthur and Angus Dawson, Adeline and Bridget Lawlor, Everett, Arlo and Charlotte Farrell and Matilda Farrell. Fondly remembered by her in-laws, Mary (Mervyn) Collins, Brenda (Bevan) Collins, Lynn (Marge) Farrell and Jim and Jane Farrell; as well as many nieces and nephews. Gwyneth was born Jan. 15, 1934, at Kincardine hospital, to Harold and Ina Collins (nee Needham). She is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, Mervyn, Burton and Bevan; and in-laws Margie Collins, William and Doreen Farrell, Murray and Lois McGill, Marge Farrell and Barbara Farrell. Trained as a teacher at Stratford Normal School in 1952-53, she taught for four years at local one-room schools in Teeswater and Millarton. However, once she married her high school sweetheart, Robert and her children began to arrive, Gwyneth became a very dedicated mother and farm wife. As a mother, she was always gentle and kind, giving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren much love and care. She was well-known for her wonderful meals, beautiful gardens and well-run household. She enjoyed many craft activities, including knitting, crocheting and paper tole. The family always enjoyed listening to Nana play the piano, as she shared seasonal songs and hymns. She was an active member of the community, and led many 4-H homemaking clubs. She was also a member of the Ripley Horticultural Society. Gwyneth had a beautiful smile, which was readily shared with all. Her kindness and gentle, loving presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, from Noon to 1 p.m. with the service at 1:30 p.m. Following burial at the Kincardine Cemetery, a gathering for friends and family is planned at the family farm (home of Geo? and Sandra Farrell), 1351 Highway 21 South, Kincardine. If desired, donations to the Huron Shores Hospice or the Anglican Church of the Messiah, Kincardine, would be appreciated.
