Robert "Bob" Clinton Gunter of Lucknow, died at Stratford Hospital, June 28, 2023, with Shirley (Belanger), his beloved wife of 47 years, at his side. He was 67. He was born July 9, 1955, in Hamilton. Predeceased by his son, Brandon (in his sixth year); his parents, Clint and Betty Gunter; younger brother, Doug; his mother-in-law, Olive Belanger; and sister-in-law, Sheila Stanley. Survived by his son, Clint, and wife, Colleen, and his beautiful granddaughter, Shelby. Remembered by his brother, Rick; father-in-law, Art Belanger; stepmother, Joyce Gunter; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wayne, Joyce (Sam) Saley, Arthur Jr., Jerry, Clint (Rebecca) and Brian Stanley; and many nieces and nephews. After marrying Shirley, his long-time sweetheart, Bob moved around to numerous places before returning to, and settling in, Lucknow where they raised their two boys. Bob was involved in coaching and managing local hockey teams with one Midget team earning a place in the All-Ontario finals. He was a prominent member of the Lucknow Silver Stick committee, and minor hockey organization. When coaching the Juvenile team, it earned a spot in the Mooretown Silver Stick Tournament. He was rewarded the Fina Bill Memorial Award for his volunteer service and dedication to Lucknow Minor Hockey. Bob’s love of music, the Toronto Maple Leafs and muscle cars was well-known. Many happy days were spent out on the boat, fishing and golfing with his son, Clint, and his friends. In the past six years, Bob worked for Bruce County Highways. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. to Noon (one hour prior to the funeral service). The funeral will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, July 2, 2023, at Noon. Memorial donations to the Arthritis Society, Lucknow Minor Hockey, War Amps or Sick Kids Foundation, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. |
