Joan Margaret “Joanie” Zoppi (née Barrett) of Kincardine, died at Trillium Court Seniors’ Community, Kincardine, Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, in her 95th year. Born in Birmingham, England, Oct. 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James and Agnes Barrett (née Mayall), immigrating to Canada in 1957. Joan is the last survivor of a group of four who immigrated together. Beloved wife of William "Bill" Zoppi, whom she married July 19, 1958. Joan is survived by her son, John (Shari) Zoppi of Glammis; brother in-law, Peter Zoppi of Walkerton; brother, John Barrett of Birmingham, United Kingdom (U.K.); and sister in-law, Heather Barrett of Bournemouth, U.K. Fondly remembered by her niece, Melanie Barrett, and nephews, Mark and Peter Barrett, all of Bournemouth, U.K., as well as numerous Zoppi relatives. Predeceased by her parents; parents-in-law; brother, Dennis Barrett; and sisters-in-law, Francis Thibaudeau, Jenny Zoppi and Leslie Barrett. Joan considered Kincardine her home and was active in the community for many years, bowling, darts and a Legion volunteer. She had a large circle of friends, with special mention to Jillian and Keith Colley, Robert and Tryntje Grey, Monica Slack, and Janice and Tim Schutz of Durham. She will be greatly missed by many. A celebration of Joan’s life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 183, Kincardine, Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Final resting place, Kincardine Cemetery.
