MICHAEL THADDEUS "TED" DITTENHOFFER

Michael Thaddeus “Ted” Dittenhoffer died at the Southampton Care Centre, Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, at the age of 77, after a struggle with Huntington’s disease. Born in 1946, in Kitchener, he was the second of four children born to Michael and Mary (née Krukowski) Dittenhoffer. Ted was devoted to his family. He was married to his wife, Frances, for 54 years; father of Dr. Christian Dittenhoffer (Deanna), and proud grandfather of Troy. Fondly remembered by his brother, Tony (Sandy); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Barbara Rasmussen and Gloria Booth; brother-in-law, Allan Hiehn; nephew, Ryan Dittenhoffer; and parents-in-law, Allan Hiehn and Ida Hiehn-Poth. Ted’s career was as a programmer analyst and later, as a network administrator. He enjoyed 10 years with the Big Brothers Association, separately mentoring two young boys. He was a volunteer with the Kitchener-Waterloo Parks and Recreations Department, coaching both youth soccer and basketball. Ted loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, biking, sailing, tennis and basketball. Most of all, he loved long walks along the Lake Huron shoreline where he spent his final days. A graveside service to celebrate Ted’s life, will be held at the Kincardine Cemetery, Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Adam Frye officiating. Reception to follow in the lounge at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine. Memorial donations to the Huntington Society of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
