Steven Robert MacNay of Kincardine, died peacefully, Nov. 1, 2023, at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66. Steve had a love for life that will not be forgotten. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending his days socializing with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and travelling the world. His happiest days were spent living his dream, travelling in his motor home to the East Coast, and Florida. Survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary A. MacNay; and his mother, Mary B. MacNay. Deeply missed by his children, Candice (Kyle) Wilson and Michael (Nicki) MacNay. Proud Papa of his three granddaughters, Evie, Poppy and Addi. Dear brother of Sharon MacNay; and brother-in-law of Dianne (Brad) Rotteau, Al Matheson, Linda McQuillin, Tom (Pauline) Kempton, and Helen (Brian) VanOsch; and cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Robert A. MacNay; father-in-law, Bill Kempton; mother-in-law, Janet Kempton; brother-in-law, Rick McQuillin; and sister-in-law Sandra Matheson. Though Steve was taken from us too soon, we remember his quick-witted humour and brilliant one-liners. He will be missed by many friends who were like family, and the community that he proudly called home. Heartfelt thanks to the team of physicians, Dr. Michael Ott, and Dr. Michael Sanatani of London Health Sciences Centre, and Dr. Damian Gunaratne of Kincardine, for the compassionate care. A special thank you to Katrina Kruller, Steve’s favourite nurse. Steve’s Come-and-G Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at Ainsdale Golf Course, Kincardine, from 2-5 p.m. Memories shared at 3 p.m. Casual attire is fine. Donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation or Huron Shores Hospice, in Steve’s memory, are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy; arrangements entrusted to the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley.
