​Christmas Knights urge community to support hamper program differently this year

The Kincardine District Senior School (KDSS) Christmas Knights will not be going door-to-door in December to collect non-perishable food and new toys for the Kincardine Christmas Hamper program.

For the past 23 years, KDSS students have trudged through three feet of snow, slid on icy sidewalks, been soaked in the pouring rain, or shivered through bitterly-cold temperatures, to help Kincardine Community Services.

This year, a microscopic virus, COVID-19 (Coronavirus), has stopped us in our tracks.

The hamper committee knows that Christmas will still come this year and there will be families that need help. KDSS students and parents have always been amazed at the generosity of the Kincardine community and hope that everyone will continue to support the Christmas Hamper program this year.

Listed below are three ways the community can donate to the 2020 Christmas Hamper program:
 

• Monetary donations, or gift cards to local businesses, can be sent to treasurer Rhodora Doughty, Box 527, Kincardine, Ontario, N2Z 2Y1. Cheques are to be made payable to the Kincardine Community Services Association. Receipts will be issued for any amount over $20.
• Cash, cheques, or gift cards/vouchers to local stores can be delivered to the Century 21 Sunset Reality Inc. Office at 330 Durham Market Square South, Kincardine (Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), until Nov. 25.
• E-transfers can be sent to Kincardinehampers@gmail.com. Please ensure your name and full mailing address are in the “message” section if you would like an income tax receipt.
