Arrest in Kincardine results in SIU invoking its mandate

(KINCARDINE, ON) – Members of the South Bruce OPP responded to a disturbance call on Queen Street in Kincardine, Friday, July 24, at 9:10 p.m. 
 

Upon arrival, police were confronted by a female who was armed. Police were able to successfully apprehend the suspect who was, subsequently, arrested under the Mental Health Act and taken to a local hospital where she was admitted.
 

Monday, July 27, the OPP were notified of allegations of injury sustained by the female during the altercation with police.
 

The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
