South Bruce OPP recover body from Lake Huron near Kincardine Harbour
A body has been recovered from Lake Huron near Kincardine Harbour, but police have yet to confirm whether it is that of a swimmer who went missing Sunday afternoon.
Aug. 2, at 2:49 p.m., the South Bruce OPP was called to the scene after 16-year-old Lucas Johnson disappeared in the water off the shores of Kincardine. He was last seen near the south pier.
Members of the South Bruce OPP, South Bruce OPP Marine Unit and OPP West Region Emergency Response Team searched for the swimmer, with the assistance of divers from the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Unit.
Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 4), at about 3 p.m., an OPP helicopter landed on the south pier where divers had pulled a body from the water. The coroner was on scene and the body was then removed.
No further details are yet available.
