SOUTH BRUCE OPP KEPT BUSY WITH STORM CALLS
(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – During the afternoon of Aug. 2, a storm featuring powerful gusts of wind passed over Southern Bruce County.
Between 3:40 p.m., Aug. 2, and 10 a.m. Aug. 3, the South Bruce OPP received 41 storm-related calls. The calls included hydro poles or trees that were knocked down across a roadway, and vehicle and other property damage. There were no injuries reported to police at any of these calls.
POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN LAPTOP COMPUTER
(LUCKNOW, ON) – Aug. 4, at 8:46 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a theft report from a residence in the 500 block of Campbell Street in Lucknow.
Sometime between 6 a.m. Aug. 4, and 8 p.m. Aug. 4, a white Sony Vio laptop was taken. The value of the stolen computer is estimated to be $1,000.
ASSAULT CALL LEADS TO NUMEROUS CHARGES
(CHESLEY, ON) – Aug. 4, at 5:18 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of an assault along 1st Avenue South in Chesley.
Officers arrived to find that two men were involved. The first had used a weapon to assault the other and the victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Officers located the suspect and discovered the man was also involved in a break, enter and theft at Big County Burger in Chesley between 4:30 p.m. Aug. 2, and 10 a.m. Aug. 3.
Twenty-five-year old Eric SIMMONS of Hanover has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, possess a controlled substance, possess stolen property and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing Aug. 5.
POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN ATV
(CULROSS TWP, ON) – Aug. 3, at 8:25 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of the theft of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) from a residence in the 300 block of Concession 12 in Culross Township.
Sometime between 3 a.m. Aug. 1, and Noon Aug. 3, a red Honda TRX350 ATV was taken from the property. The ATV has a very thick windshield and unique tires. The value of the stolen ATV is estimated to be $1,000.
POLICE INVESTIGATING BUTCHER SHOP BREAK-IN
(CARRICK TWP, ON) – Aug. 2, at 12:55 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a break-and-enter at Elora Custom Meats located along Bruce County Road 3 in Carrick Township.
Sometime between 3 p.m. Aug. 1, and 12:30 p.m. Aug. 2, 2015, the business was forcibly entered and a quantity of cash was taken from the office area.
DRUG CHARGE LAID AT RIDE CHECK
(ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – Aug. 1, at 4:05 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Bruce County Road 1 in Elderslie Township, when a grey Dodge Dakota was stopped.
Officers discovered a quantity of illegal drugs in the vehicle. The driver, 36-year-old Kenneth POPP of Halton Hills, has been charged with possess a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 31, to answer to the charge.
IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING DAY IN COURT
(HURON TWP, ON) – Aug. 1, at 1:30 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Concession 12 in Huron Township, stopped a silver Ford F150 pick-up truck.
The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Twenty-six-year-old Kalin MACKAY of Mapleton Township has been charged with care or control over-80 milligrams and fail to produce insurance card. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14, to answer to the charges.
