Kincardine Family Health Team chief executive officer Gerry Glover, who is also office manager for the Kincardine Community Medical Clinic, says Dr. Michael Gora (left) plans to leave in the fall.
Glover said it's unfortunate that Gora is leaving since, prior to his arrival, Kincardine had gone several years without a surgeon. "We greatly appreciate his contributions to the hospital.”
Gora has said he will assist with recruitment efforts for another general surgeon, said Glover. Gora's office was closed this week due to a scheduled absence, and his practice is slated to re-open next week.
Meanwhile, the medical team at the hospital and clinic continues to deal with a higher patient load after the departure of Dr. Steven Poirier and Dr. Rejean Duwyn in July.
Glover said recruitment efforts are under way to replace them. Meanwhile, their patients have been re-assigned to other physicians at the clinic, and the family health team has hired a nurse practitioner to help with non-acute cases.
