Great weather, great crowd Saturday at the Ripley Reunion
The sun shone and a massive crowd turned out for Saturday's events at the Ripley Reunion.
The auditorium at the Ripley-Huron Community School was packed with former students, teachers and staff as they reminisced about attending various School Sections in the area, as well as elementary and secondary school in Ripley.
John Borton had youngsters dancing and playing with hula-hoops at his kids show in the morning.
Following the mammoth parade, dignitaries gathered to officially open the reunion. Joining reunion committee chairperson, Amanda Farrell Walsh, were Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Huron-Kinloss mayor Mitch Twolan, as well as Ripley Reunion ambassador Marley Martyn and her fellow contestants, Kirsten Walden and Gregory Reid, and the citizenship award winners.
A huge crowd was delighted by the antics of the Craz-E-Crew Stunt Team which featured one announcer and five riders from Ottawa.
Several reunions were held - for the MacDonald clan, the Pollock clan, the Ripley-Huron Skating Club, and the Ripley Wolves. A dozen teams then got down and dirty, competing in tug-of-war, with the Farmer MacDonald team taking the championship.
And Moe'N The Lawn, the hometown band featuring Kincardine and Ripley boys for the past 27 years, rocked out Saturday afternoon at the beer gardens.
The day ended with a Shriners Fish Fry, Seniors Dance to Glenn Boyd's Orchestra, and the Saturday night dance to Lulu's Roadhouse.
