Bervie W.I. and guests travel to Hoity Toity Cellars near Mildmay

Wednesday, Aug. 5, six members of the Bervie Women's Institute and two guests journeyed to Hoity Toity Cellars near Mildmay and enjoyed a tour of the grape and apple orchards, as well as the processing facilities where the company makes its famous wine and ciders which have won several awards.

The Hoity Toity Marquette, Frontenac and Louisiana grapes will endure temperatures up to minus–40 degrees. Everyone did some tasting – very good.

Following a bag lunch, the ladies held a short business meeting there.  The roll call was answered with a wine story.

The group has been invited to three upcoming Alzheimer’s events -  Reid’s Corners W.I. at Pine River United Church Aug. 12, at 2 p.m.; Purple Grove W.I. at the Purple Grove Community Centre, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m.; and Eden Grove W.I. at the Cargill Ball Park Hall, Sept. 8 at 9 a.m.

W.I. button name badges were ordered for the group through Elsie Schuler.  Our next meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Bervie Hall at 10 a.m. with a guest speaker on dental health.
