Recipients of the annual Bruce Power Scholarship were recognized at a breakfast Tuesday (Aug. 11), at the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre. Duncan Hawthorne, Bruce Power’s president and chief executive officer, presented the students with their certificates and $500 during the event.
“Bruce Power is proud to play a role in the post-secondary education of these impressive students from Bruce, Grey and Huron counties,” said Hawthorne. “Our scholarship committee had a very difficult job picking only 100 winners from an unbelievable crop of more than 300 applicants.”
The selection committee was comprised of 10 Bruce Power employees from a variety of departments and levels. The applications were reviewed with system-generated reference numbers to remove any name, location or other potential bias, and all personal information was removed to ensure anonymity.
