Thank you from the Kincardine Christmas Hamper committee
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Kincardine Community Services Christmas Hamper Program, I extend a huge thank you to all of the people, organizations and businesses that donated generously so that we could provide ‘gift card hampers’ to individuals and families again this Christmas.
This year, we assembled 198 gift card hampers. These were provided to 89 families, 17 couples and 91 individuals, representing a total of 459 people.
Despite the fact that we (the committee and volunteers) miss the collection of toys, clothing and food to distribute to individuals, the folks who receive the hampers have voiced their appreciation in receiving gift cards so that they can purchase the gifts and food specific to their family’s individual needs.
I thank my committee and the volunteers who ‘manned’ the donation desk at the Century 21 office over the course of 15 days, as well as the mathematicians who took the money and gift cards that were donated and divided them equally so we could distribute them fairly.
A special thank you to Eleanor Roppel, for her many hours of phone calls to make sure that we distributed the gift card hampers in a safe and timely way.
You can be assured that the community’s generous spirit made a Merry Christmas for many people in Kincardine.
Until next year,
Heather Finnie
