Goderich man dies in motorcycle crash southeast of Bayfield

(MUNICIPALITY OF BLUEWATER, ON) – Sunday, Aug. 23,, shortly after 4:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers were dispatched to the intersection of Mill Road (Huron County Road. 3) and Goshen Line, southeast of Bayfield, where a citizen had discovered a motorcycle and its rider in a cornfield.
 

Upon arrival, Huron EMS personnel and OPP officers determined that the motorcyclist, 21-year-old Zackary James MacLEAN, of Goderich, had been in the cornfield for an extended period of time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
 

Preliminary investigation has determined that the motorcycle had been travelling northbound on Goshen Line, approaching the intersection of Mill Road. It proceeded northbound from Goshen Line, crossing Mill Road, and colliding with the “T-intersection” sign. The motorcycle and its rider came to rest in the cornfield north of the intersection.
 

The West Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit attended the scene and is continuing its investigation. 
 

Road closed signs were erected, diverting traffic around the intersection of Goshen Line and Mill Road, to allow for a safe investigation of the crash. The intersection was re-opened to traffic Sunday, Aug. 23, at 10:45 p.m.
