Kincardine woman receives giant puffball from friends in Tiverton
Joan Hartwick of Kincardine likes the taste of puffball, a large white mushroom that grows in the wild.

And it's a good thing, too, because friends from Tiverton brought her a giant puffball that measures 14-and-a-half-inches in diameter. Puffballs usually grow as large as one-foot in diameter.

Relaxing in her home on Scott Street, Hartwick says Sandy and Bob MacPherson discovered the giant puffball while they were out horseback riding.

"It's the largest I've ever seen," she says. "I love the taste of them and morrells. We're going to make puffball lasagna."

Recovering from surgery, Hartwick is enlisting the help of her husband, Wayne, and her son, Michael, to turn the giant mushroom into a feast fit for a king.
