Sun shines on second annual Marine Heritage Festival
It was sunny and hot Saturday, and a good crowd turned out for the second annual Marine Heritage Festival at the Kincardine Harbour.

People toured the tall ships, "Pathfinder" and "Playfair," and youngsters were able to try their hand at steering the ships. Crew members were available to answer questions about the vessels, part of the Toronto Brigantine fleet that tours the Great Lakes in the summer, teaching young people how to sail. The theme of the festival was "Search and Rescue," with the Mysis Rescue Boat, part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, offering tours.

The festival also featured Artisan's Alley with a number of local artists and crafters showcasing their talents, as well as children's activities in Macpherson Park, including shadow puppets, boat-making, Shark Attack game, ring toss game, tattoos, and wet-felting.

In addition, people were encouraged to tour the Kincardine Lighthouse, and the Walker House with its newly-opened exhibit, a history of Search and Rescue on Lake Huron.

The tall ships arrived Friday afternoon amidst some choppy water, and then that night, took a group on an evening sail which was much calmer with a glorious sunset.

The ships remained in Kincardine until Sunday, when they headed out on their final trip before the end of the summer season.
