Sold-out Lucknow's Music in the Fields set for this weekend

If you have a ticket to the sold-out, two-day, country-music event, Lucknow's Music in the Fields, you will be looking forward to a great line-up this weekend, as the seventh annual event opens this Friday night and continues Saturday afternoon and evening.

Headlining Friday's concert is Dallas Smith who performed at Lucknow's Music in the Fields in 2013. Hailing from British Columbia, Smith is skyrocketing to the very top of the country music scene. His 2012 debut album, “Jumped Right In,” generated five singles in the Canadian Hot 100, including the GOLD selling title-track, garnered five CCMA Award nominations and was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2013 JUNO awards.

Joining Smith Friday night, are Jess Moskaluke and Runaway Angel.

2013 kicked off with a bang as Jess Moskaluke released her new single “Hit N’ Run” to Canadian radio airwaves Jan. 28, hitting number 48 on the BDS radio charts for country radio in Canada in two short weeks. She is a small town gal from Langenburg, Saskatchewan.

Runaway Angel consists of Cadence Grace, Ann Chaplin and Stacey Zegers who have had major successes in their own right as solo female artists, but never imagined that together their collective talents would catapult them to an entirely new level. Individually, they have toured Canada, the United States, Europe and Britain, opening for several major acts.

Saturday night's headliner is The Band Perry, the hugely-popular group, fronted by Kimberly Perry, with her younger brothers, Neil and Reid. The award-winning band has notched a string of hit singles, including the quadruple-platinum “If I Die Young,” the platinum “You Lie,” and the Country No. 1 “All Your Life.”

Since releasing its self-titled debut album in 2010, The Band Perry has ascended to dizzying heights. The group has also enjoyed sold-out tours and a showering of honours, including multiple music awards, and award nominations — all of which has cemented the sibling trio as one of the hottest acts in recent history.

Also performing Saturday, are Livy Jeanne, Autumn Hill, Chad Brownlee, Cold Creek County, and Easton Corbin. Brownlee graced the Music in the Fields stage in 2012, while Autumn Hill performed in 2013.

Country/pop hybrid Livy Jeanne of Alberta has received plenty of awards and accolades since starting her career just a few short years ago, but what inspires her music is having been a victim of relentless bullying at school - she survived by immersing herself in music. "By finding my passion, I found a place to express myself, find some personal strength, and feel good about who I am," she say.

Some songs grab you right away, while others sink in over time and won’t let you go. Autumn Hill’s music does both. Beyond the immediate hooks – the vivid imagery, the effortlessly catchy choruses, and the passionate harmonies – are surprising depths. The country music duo features Tareya Green of Calgary and Mike Robins of Toronto who have been touted as the first Canadian country act to successfully crossover to pop radio since Shania Twain.

A testament to his drive and talent, Chad Brownlee of Kelowna, British Columbia is an extraordinary example of what one person can achieve. Although he may focus on living in the moment and absorbing every treasured second with his fans while performing on stage, Brownlee has already lived a life many would argue could fill multiple lifetimes. An award-winning singer, songwriter, philanthropist and former NHL draft pick, country music artist Brownlee is by definition a renaissance man, who lives by the credence that “opportunity lies along the path created by the choices you make.”

Cold Creek County comes by its name naturally. Cold Creek, after all, runs through the rolling hills, apple orchards and villages in central Ontario near locations the band members call home.

Nestled in the rural in-betweens of Peterborough and Belleville, Brandon Scott (lead vocals/acoustic guitar) calls Brighton, population 4,800, home. Drummer Doug Oliver is from nearby Hastings, population, 1,200. Josh Lester (guitar/vocals) and Justin Lester (bass/vocals), the sons of bluegrass master Emory Lester, hail from the outskirts of Frankford, population 2,500. Lead guitarist Trevor MacLeod, the relative city slicker in the group, is originally from Stratford, population 30,000. Band members literally cross Cold Creek to get to each other’s homes.

Winning Country Group of the Year at the 2014 Wire Awards, and opening for country stars last year, including Dallas Smith, Emerson Drive, Kira Isabella and Jason Blain, Cold Creek County is rolling onto the country music scene impressively loud. Heavily influenced by country and rock, the band brings both worlds together in a way that’s sure to get your feet stomping.

The group's new album, produced by Scott Cooke (Chase Rice, Assistant Engineer on Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Dallas Smith) and co-produced by Doug Oliver is due out this fall. It includes songs from Nashville’s Valhalla Music Group, Warren Brothers and Wind-up Entertainment.

Easton Corbin is an American country music singer who released his self-titled debut album in March, 2010, featuring the two number one hits, "A Little More Country Than That" and "Roll With It," as well as the number 14 hit "I Can`t Love You Back".

His second album, All Over the Road, was released in September, 2012. Its first single, "Lovin` You Is Fun", was released in February, 2012. The album's second single, "All Over the Road", was released in January, 2013.

“One of my earliest memories is from when I was three or four,” he remembers. “I was sitting between my parents in the car and a song came on the radio—it was Mel McDaniel’s ‘Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On’. I began using the gearshift as my microphone. The desire has always been there.”

Also at Lucknow`s Music in the Fields are Sepoy Saloon Showdown winner Vanessa Marie Carter of Oakville, and runner-up, Eric Ethridge of London and Sarnia.

The Lucknow Kinsmen Club, which organizes the annual event, thanks all the fans, and welcomes everyone to come out and enjoy the biggest party of the summer.
