Four girls competing to be 2015 Kincardine Fall Fair ambassador
Four girls are competing for the title of 2015 Kincardine Fall Fair ambassador.

The pageant runs Friday, Sept. 4, in the Connaught Park Pavilion, beginning at 7 p.m., with the official fair opening by Kincardine mayor Anne Eadie. MC Dylan Trahan then takes over, with the fashion show and speeches by the ambassador candidates.

Entertainment will be provided by Owen Nixon on fiddle, and dancers Irelyn Nixon and Annie Colquhoun.

The four contestants include:

HAILEY ALLEN


 

Hailey is the 17-year-old daughter of Scott and Shannon Allen of Kincardine. She graduated from Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS) and is going back for a fifth year. Following that, she plans to go to college for Police Foundations and Protection, Investigation and Security.
 

She enjoys all sports and has participated in school sports, such as hockey, track and field, badminton and swimming. Her community involvement includes the Blues Festival, Relay for Life, the Kincardine modeling show and 4-H. She has also been involved with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) basketball and Kincardine Minor Hockey. She conducts survey interviews for Result Management Consultant Group (RMCG) for the Blues Festival and the Blue Flag Beach.
 

Hailey has two part-time jobs, at Tropix and Gilley’s. She enjoys spending time on the beach and with her family and friends. She is sponsored by Canadian Tire.
 



CHRISTINE BENNEY


 

Christine is the 18-year-old daughter of Jane Benney and Burns Hobbs of Kincardine. She graduated from KDSS this year. She has volunteered with the Terry Fox Run for many years in a variety of capacities, such as canvassing for pledges, organizing the event, and registration.
 

She enjoys playing soccer, gymnastics, swimming, writing and reading, and works at Shoppers Drug Mart. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Christine plans to work for a year and consider her future which may be attending Ryerson or the University of Guelph for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She is sponsored by Matchett Financial.
 



LARA CLUBB


 

Lara is the 17-year-old daughter of Bill and Diane Clubb of Kincardine. She graduated from KDSS and her community involvement includes the Kincardine United Church, the Christmas Knights and being a Tropix model. She also conducts survey interviews for Result Management Consultant Group (RMCG) for the Blues Festival and the Blue Flag Beach.
 

She enjoys sports, especially hockey and is involved with Kincardine Minor Hockey. She also likes gymnastics and watching movies. Lara works at Boston Pizza, and is heading to Fanshawe College this fall for pre-health and, hopefully, nursing after that. She is sponsored by The Co-operators Insurance.
 



KELSEY PADFIELD


 

Kelsey is the 17-year-old daughter of Kent and Heather Padfield of Kincardine. She has completed Grade 11 and is heading into grade 12 at KDSS.
 

She has volunteered with Kincardine Tyke hockey, coached OPG basketball, and coached children at Fit Body Boot Camp. This summer, she has been employed by the Municipality of Kincardine at the Kincardine Summer Day Camp. She is involved with Kincardine Minor Hockey and Kincardine Kippers. Her interests are hockey, swimming and spending time with family and friends.
 

Kelsey plans to go to college or university and specialize in childhood disabilities. She is sponsored by Royal LePage Exchange Realty Co.

The fall fair continues Saturday, Sept. 5, with animal shows, displays, and the parade, followed by the Saturday Night Dance to Steve Deer and Friends, and then DJ Ryan Berry. Tickets are $10 each, available at the Kincardine tourism office, Sleepers Bed Gallery and The Co-operators.

Events on Sunday, Sept. 6, include a miniature horse show, and a remote control demonstration with trucks, cars and helicopters.

Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children, ages six to 12, and free for children ages five and under.
