Sept. 7 was a sad day for the Lake Huron Fishing Club as dear friend and staunch supporter Lavern Blacklock died suddenly in Southampton, at the age of 76.
Cherished and loving husband of Leola for 57 years. Devoted and loved father to Kevin (Leslie), Karen Morris (Mike) and Kelly Haringa (Lorne). Proud Papa of Laura and Joel Blacklock; Bradley and Krista Morris, and Jessica and Emmalee Haringa; and great-grandfather of Ellie Joon Toker.
Brother of Grace McKinnon and Murray Blacklock. Brother-in-law of George Brown, Bob Davis, Lloyd Davis, Laverne Davis and Louise Davis. Lavern will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Blacklock was a very active person in the Saugeen Shores community. He was a man of many talents, but his three passions were: woodcarving, manufacturing custom-made fishing rods, and fishing. He was a modest person with many friends, but in his close circle, he could be opinionated on subjects dear to his heart. He was a great family man, grandpa and mentor and would put family and friends first if help was needed.
A wonderful gentleman, he will be sorrowfully missed by all.
Visitation was held Thursday evening, Sept. 10, and Friday afternoon, Sept. 11, at the J. Scott Early Funeral Home, in Milton, with the funeral Friday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or Crohn's and Colitis Canada would be appreciated by the family.
Messages of condolence may be left on-line at www.earlyfuneralhome.com
