Kincardine Rotary Beachside Run raises $6,000 in biggest race yet

The third annual Kincardine Rotary Beachside Run welcomed more than 100 participants in the biggest race yet, raising $6,045 for Community Living of Kincardine and District's apartment building on Saratoga Road.

There were 88 runners for the five-kilometre and 10-kilometre races, and 23 walkers, for a total of 111 participants.

The event saw a new location for the start of the races and walk at Reunion Park, south of Kincardine Harbour. Also, a change in date, from early October to Labour Day weekend, provided perfect weather conditions and an excellent turnout.

Appreciation goes to Miller Insurance, the major race sponsor, and Penetangear and Sugoi as the premier prize sponsors. Other race sponsors included: RBC, Donnelly Murphy, Coldwell Banker, HuronTel, Harvey Financial, NA Engineering, Jacques Law, and Leader Resources.

Funds raised go toward completing the Rotary Club of Kincardine’s $50,000 pledge toward the Community Living capital project.

Sarah Davey and Kathy Soloduka came first and second, respectively, in the amount of pledges collected.
