Sunday was a great day to plant a tree!
4-H leaders and members, past and present; representatives from Ontario, Canada and Bruce County 4-H; family and friends, gathered at St. Andrew's United Church in Ripley to honour long-time Ripley 4-H leader Anne MacInnes with a 4-H Syngenta Arbour Award tree planting.
The citation noted that MacInnes has been a 4-H leader for the past 20 years with Bruce County. She has been a board member in Bruce County, has led numerous clubs, such as baking, life skills, athletics, conservation and livestock, and volunteered at many 4-H Ontario events.
An incredibly well-rounded leader, she is someone that all members feel comfortable with, especially shy members whom she’s able to bring out of their shells. Her enormous heart and support for her community can be felt at every meeting and event.
Outside of 4-H, MacInnes is very involved in the Ripley community with the Ripley United Church, Agricultural Society, fall fair, curling club, and Brownies and Scouts.
As a leader of the Protecting Plant Earth Conservation Club, she started connecting the club members with the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network (PRWIN) seven years ago, and they help plant 2,500-5,000 trees annually.
"Congratulations, Anne, for all you have done for 4-H clubs, the community, and all of Canada!"
