Power Workers' Union (PWU) representative Cathy Luinstra recently presented a $1,000 donation to Kincardine and District Secondary School teacher Tim Luinstra, for the outdoor education program, which will run in the spring of 2016.
The funds will assist students taking the program and in the purchase of equipment for events in the program, such as the Saugeen River and Algonquin Canoe Trip. Students at KDSS who take this course will learn various wilderness and camping skills and then get the opportunity to test their skills on a five-day wilderness trip into Algonquin Park in June.
Tim Luinstra appreciates the support of the PWU, and thanks the organization on behalf of the outdoor education program. These much-needed funds greatly assist the program.
The PWU Bruce Site equity committee has been in place since early 2006 and its purpose is to make cash disbursements of Bruce Site equity funds to community organizations and local causes. The committee makes these disbursements on behalf of all 2,600 PWU members who work for Bruce Power and it gives the committee great pleasure to make these presentations.
