Welcome Home to the 152nd Ripley-Huron Fall Fair this weekend
The Ripley Agricultural Society has plenty of traditional activities and new things to do, as organizers "Welcome Home" everyone to the 152nd Ripley-Huron Fall Fair this weekend.

The fair runs Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25-26, at the Ripley-Huron Complex and the fairgrounds.

Friday night, is the 9th annual Garden Tractor Pull, as well as the Super Frog contest, children's pedal tractor pull, and new this year: "Friday Night Under the Lights." Gather on the ball diamond at 7 p.m. to test your physical strength and finesse with the Human Tractor Pull, Egg-Tossing, and Livestock-Calling.

The crowning of Ripley Reunion ambassador Marley Martyn as the Ripley-Huron Fall Fair ambassador will take place in the auditorium, along with the Variety Night. Marley will be joined by her fellow contestants, Kirsten Walden and Gregory Reid for a game of Fair Trivia. The evening will also include the musical talents of local artist Maggie Durnin, as well as the 4th annual Prince and Princess of the Fair pageant, and the famous pie and cake auction.

Saturday's main highlight is the mammoth parade, carrying on the theme, "Welcome Home." This is a great opportunity to showcase your business, organization or hobby. Registration begins at 10:15 a.m., at St. Andrew's United Church. There are several divisions: floats for family, school or church, float with live music, commercial or organizational float; decorated bikes, wagons, carts or strollers for children, decorated motorized vehicles for children and adults, and pedestrian entries. For more information, call 519-395-4048 or E-mail ripleyfair@hurontel.on.ca.

New events on Saturday include Canada's premier female ventriloquist, "Yvette Locke and her Puppet Friends;"  the Bervie Petting Zoo and Free Pony Rides; a Tai Chi demonstration; Jamie's Reptiles; and the Huron County Chuckers knife- and axe-throwing demonstration.

There are also the Saturday favourites, such as face-painting, log-sawing and nail-driving, Kinetic Knights Robotics demonstration, antique tractor display, car and truck show, and the fall fair dance.
