Public enjoys Kincardine Flower Show at the Walker House
A good crowd came out to the Kincardine and District Horticultural Society's Flower Show and Tea, held for the first time at the Walker House, Kincardine, Sunday afternoon.
Up until this year, the event has been held at one of the regular meetings of the horticultural society. This year's show featured many fall colours, and numerous entries.
First prize overall went to Jean Johnson, with second to Donna Mowat, and third to Harriet Suter. Best in show went to Suter with her floral arrangement - "Animated Movie, Frozen."
Mowat held up one of her prize plants, a 100-year-old Aspidestra house plant. Her mother-in-law in Vancouver gave her a shoot from her plant, and then hers died, so Mowat returned the favour and gave her mother-in-law a shoot from her plant.
Organizers of the event, were Lois Hunt, Helena Hill, Shirley Thomas, Mary Duffie, Shirley Vogan and Helen Chisholm.
