A strong finish to a slow start propelled the Kincardine Home Hardware Novice Rep. Kinucks to victory as they downed the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs, 7-1 in exhibition play, Wednesday, Sept. 30.
It wasn’t an attractive start, but Kincardine escaped the first period with a 2-0 lead. Trent Houghton opened the scoring at the four-minute mark from Beckett Graham. Joshua Cuyler followed with a tally a minute later from Jack Beddington.
The Ice Dogs cut the lead in half with the sole marker of the second, mid-way through the period.
In the third. it was all Kincardine.
The Kinucks opened the final frame with three goals in less than three minutes to put the game out of reach for Ice Dogs.
Defenceman Beddington scored his first as a Novice Rep from Ethan Kaminski, followed by goals from Zac Fletcher and Ty McQuillin. Assisting on the Fletcher, McQuillin goals were Kaminski, Jack Charbonneau, and Graham.
Insurance markers by first-year forward Brody Lyndon and Fletcher rounded out the Kinuck third-period scoring. Assisting were Cuyler and Beddington.
Jordan Wall and Cameron Carney split goaltending duties. Both were solid between the pipes in the victory.
