Bulldogs notch two wins on the weekend
The Nichol Insurance Kincardine Junior C Bulldogs notched two wins on the weekend, downing the Walkerton Hawks, 5-3, and edging the Wingham Ironmen, 4-3, in overtime.
Friday night in Walkerton, the Hawks opened the scoring early in the first, but Zach Freiburger tied it up for Kincardine on an unassisted effort minutes later.
Patrick Wiejak added another early in the second before Walkerton tied it again at 2-2. However, Mat Mah had a powerplay marker midway through the frame, to put Kincardine ahead, 3-2.
Walkerton tied it up early in the third, but the rest of the game belonged to the 'Dogs as Gerrit Satosek scored the go-ahead goal from Freiburger, and Mah sealed the 5-3 win with an empty-netter from Wiejak.
Saturday, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, Wingham opened the scoring midway in the first, but Kincardine's Eric Langridge scored a powerplay goal, from Shane Vollmer and Patrick Wiejak, to tie things up. Late in the period, Wingham made it a 2-1 game, and then added another in the second to soar ahead, 3-1.
Gerrit Satosek scored from Jordan Bell early in the third, and then Keegan Angel had an unassisted goal to tie things at 3-3 at the end of the period, sending the game into overtime.
Less than two minutes into overtime, Brady Richards scored, unassisted, to give Kincardine the 4-3 win.
The Bulldogs are on home ice this weekend, hosting Goderich Friday night, Oct. 16, at 8:30 p.m.; and Mount Forest Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m.
