After 10 years of providing its annual health career exploration camp, MedLINCS (Medical Learning in Community Settings, formerly MedQUEST) Bruce-Grey, is taking a hiatus next year.
In a press release, Bonnie McGinnis, media relations for MedLINCS, said that throughout this first decade, support for Schulich Medicine learners has come from local hospitals, health centres, family health teams, emergency teams, long-term care facilities, municipalities and many more.
In Bruce and Grey counties over this period, almost 300 secondary school students have participated in the week-long health career exploration program organized and taught by the medicine learners.
The program will be on hiatus next year and will re-launch for the summer of 2017, said McGinnis.
During the next six to eight months, the Office of Distributed Education at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, will be reconnecting with its community partners and reflecting on these successful 10 years. These sessions will help build a stronger, more robust community-based program.
The Office of Distributed Education will announce programming changes and enhancements in August, 2016. For more information, contact distributed.education@schulich.uwo.ca.
