Knox Presbyterian Church in Kincardine marks 105th Ringing of the Peace Bell

Kincardine celebrated the 105th Ringing of the Peace Bell, Saturday evening, at Knox Presbyterian Church.
In 2018, Knox welcomed the community to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, with the ringing of the peace bell 100 times on the evening of Remembrance Day.
That ceremony was held outside. This year, a huge crowd gathered in the sanctuary as piper Leslie Ray of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band marched in the Legion Colour Party.
Mike Chreptyk welcomed everyone, followed by the singing of “O Canada,” and the Kincardine District Senior School choir performing “And the Poppies Grow,” led by director Danielle Bastien.

The men’s chorus of the A Cappella Choir, directed by Liz Coates, sang “In Flanders Fields,” followed by John Low performing the veterans’ version of “Hallelujah,” accompanied by violinists Chris Lazarenko and Nicole Reid.
“The Pleats” sang “The Old Church Yard,” followed by the A Cappella Choir singing “In Memoriam.”
Taking part in the bell-ringing, were Betty and Tom Haugh, Judy Chreptyk and Audrey Higman.
Following a prayer and farewell by Rev. Dan West, pipers Terry Reid, Nick Reid and Andy Fraser joined in playing “Highland Cathedral,” and piper Leslie Ray led the Legion Colour Party from the sanctuary.
